About the Joint Task Force

History

The Italian standardization body UNI performs its activities through a number of Technical Commissions and Affiliated Bodies.

As far as ISO TC67 and CEN/TC12 are concerned, UNI has assigned the task to participate in the oil and gas industry standardization activities to UNSIDER, the Affiliated body mainly dedicated to the iron and steel industry. The ISO TC67 and CEN/TC12 standardization activities are in the scope of the UNSIDER Subcommittee 17, which in turn is subdivided in 6 Working Groups corresponding to the TC67 Subcommittees.

Task Force “International standardization in petroleum and natural gas industries” was created in ENI/Agip in 1994 mainly to support the UNSIDER/SC17 in the preparation and application of international standards in petroleum industry. From 2001 the Task Force has initiated a collaboration with experts from other companies involved in international standardization for petroleum and natural gas industries in order to use more efficiently the expert's participation to the Petroleum and Natural Gas International Standardization (PNGIS).

Main objectives

For today Task Force main objectives are becoming the following:
  1. Co-ordinate expert's participation to the standards preparation in ISO/TC67 and CEN/TC12.
  2. Promote the use of international standards in procurement.
  3. Assure the use of additional requirements in company specification only when technically justified.
  4. Support the Task Force public website to promote wider participation of experts, better co-ordinate international standards developments/revision/voting and their use as national/company specifications.
  5. Support an extension of international standards across complete petroleum lifecycle (exploration, appraisal, development, production, transportation, refining and marketing).
